The south african visa office just sent my fiance the following, out of nowhere.
Quote
You are required to submit documentary evidence of additional travel insurance given you current medical condition. The medical coverage you have does not cover you internationally.

Our medical aid does actually cover us internationally so I am not sure why they are saying this, ignoring that though as I would rather just give them what they want then try cause a fuss I would like to ask the following questions that I would appreciate an answer to.

1) What counts as "documentary evidence of additional travel insurance"? Is a quote on this enough or do I actually have to take the insurance out?
2) Is it possible for me to actually take the insurance out without a visa? As far as I am aware one can only take out travel insurance once they have a ticket and I can't buy a ticket without a visa/date? Am I wrong about this?
