Hi all, I sent POF together with my application. However, I have a relative who is ill and wants me to lend him some money. For the amount he wants I'll have to dip into these funds. Would I be asked to re-submit a bank statement before my visa is issued? I am sure that I will have the stated amount by the time I would have to land. My only fear is that should I lend him the money and a further statement is requested that my account may show I don't have the required funds. Also, if I only intend to land but move later to Canada, can I just have a bank draft to show at the airport then return home with it? Do I have to deposit it right away in a Canadian bank?
Thanks
The visa office can ask to see proof of funds at any time during your application. Indeed I have heard of people being ask to re-produce prior to medicals etc, seems they do occasional spotchecks to try to stop people from just borrowing money for immigration purposes. However, it is probable that the next time you will have to prove funds will be at POE when you land. But do you want to risk it? Usually VO will give at least 60 days to send any additional documents they need, so my advice is that if you do have to dip into your savings, that you can replace the money within 60 days max. Best of luck, Wayne.

Hi All,
I will be going with my wife this weekend to Canada for fisrt time as PR, but I need to have at least 13K CAD to show as proof of funds in the port of entry. In this case as it is more than 10K do I have to fill form E667 ? Can I create a bank draft of 13K ? Does it have to be in CAD or can I use USD ?

Can I ask as well as you are two persons, can't you take like 7K and your wife 7K in cash? is that not allowed?

@ PND: Any major currencies (USD, GBP) would work just fine
@ amer1981: It's the same thing. proof of funds are counted as per family. husband & wife are one family.

I am planning to land on 26 June 2011 with my family. We are five and I am carrying with me $26000 in cash. I am also carrying my bank statement for the last year from Sep 2010. to June 2011 (from Riyadh Bank in Saudi Arabia), showing the salary transfer to my bank account in Saudi Riayals around 17500 monthly. Also I am carrying with me the receipt showing transferring the money from Saudi Riyals into US Dollars from exchange office located in Alkabor. Do you think this sufficient to pass the immigration officer without questioning?
Ameer

Hello Qorax,
I have a question. I will be landing in Canada in Aug-2011 along with my wife. I am from India and I have a NRI account (Kotak Mahindra) which has about 9K USD. Will the statement from NRI account work as a proof os funds ?
Pls let me know.
Regards, Sharat Joshi

Hi Qorax,
We plan to land in late August. Regarding proof of funds, we plan to show about CAD 10k through our Scotia bank account that we are in the process of opening and the rest in the form of cash ~CAD 5k. Please let us know if that sounds ok?
Regards, Dhanya

Perfectly OK [but that total figure mustn't be less than the required POF]. Qorax

Dear Sir Qorax, Me and my wife will be bringing CAD 17K --- I have a few dilemmas:
1. Should we bring US$15K (cuz' we have a US$ Account), and a couple of thousand CAD ---to make a total of CAD17K? We could always convert the US$ later after we land.
2. Since the exchange rate between CAD and US$ fluctuates from time to time, is it best NOT to exchange our US$ to CAD right away and wait it out until CAD drops lower than US$? We're planning to land by Sept.
3. When the IO asks, "How much Money are you bringing in? How should we answer? If we say," We are bringing US$15K and couple of thousand CAD" , are we then be exempted from filling up the form needed if your are bringing MORE THAN CAD10K ?
I hope my questions make sense. Please ease my confusion, good sir! Thank you!!
