hope that someone can reply re proof of funds -when i land at the airport in canada what are the acceptable forms of proof of funds ? 
Cash etc ?

The regulations stipulate "Liquid."  That means you must have access to the cash.  Money in the bank that is accessable by a draft or bank card is good.  You aren't required to have thousands of dollars in cash on your person.  Stocks, properties and other investments that are not immediately accessable to you would not be considered liquid.  I suggest you contact CIC for their specific requirements.
