I don't think so. You can't bring property to Canada to pay for everyday expenses. Proof of funds is to make sure that particular immigrant can support him for some time before getting a real job. Canada certainly don't want any financial burden of  new immigrant.

you dont necessarily need liquid cash, you can use insurance with cash value, pension  statements, car evaluation anything that can be transferred to cash easily.

Hi,
I am in the US and I will like to know if I can tell them that I am selling the property I have in my country as proof of fund. I have 401k account but the money i have in the account will not be enough to support 4 people. Please advice me on what else I can show for proof of fund.

Thanks

Unless the rules have changed very recently, assets other than housing property cannot be used as proof of funds. So you cannot submit car or jewellery valuations. However property valuations CAN sometimes be used as proof of funds but it seems this is dependent on the visa office - some visa offices will accept them, others will not.

So if you don't have the available cash funds my advice would be one of the following
a) If you have equity in property, check with others who applied at the visa office you are intending to use and see if property as proof of funds was accepted
b) Save up the funds, then apply when you are financially eligible
c) Secure a job offer and apply under FSW2, then proof of funding is not required

Best of luck,
Wayne.

Provide proof of unencumbered and readily transferrable funds in a convertible currency available for settlement in Canada:

-Current bank certification letter; or
-Evidence of savings balance; or
-Fixed time deposit statement.

i think in my opinion you can bring all cash at POE for as long as you'll declare the amount to the Canadian official especially if you'll be bringing more than CAD$ 10,000.  you may check the link below regarding disclosure of funds.

That's correct you can bring as much cash in as you like, however it is an offense if you bring more than $10,000 without declaring it to them.

Our settlement funds are now in a HSBC Canada account in CAD so we're only taking $350 or so in actual cash when we land tomorrow.

I' m sorry to say that you can't persue property documents as proof of fund. You can show only liquid cash. Ornaments or Jewellery are also good things to use as proof of fund.

Thanks

Hollowman:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from the old checklist ornaments or jewellery are not to be included as proof of funds.

Here's the exact wording from the old DOCUMENT CHECKLIST. "However, do not include personal items such as jewellery, furniture, etc."

all the best,

Yeah! u r absolutly correct  please dont get trapped with other advices particularly against POF b cas PR is based particularly upon points &pof moreover please dont submit any bank staements like transanctionsince for months, years bcas it is not important they need only the letter provided from the bank that specifies so& so the A/c holder holding specific balance on the particular date ,,,,,,,please every one keep in mind, thank u!
