hi ..

in London CHC checklist, it says:

"Provide proof of unencumbered and readily transferable funds in a convertible currency available for settlement in Canada (for you and your family members):
•current bank certification letter; or
•evidence of savings balance; or
•fixed or time deposit statements."

none of the options above is a bank statement... can anybody confirm that the bank statement was there and removed with the new rules?.. because i am wondering how they will make sure that the money is mine with only a certificate of balance from the bank...!!!

I agree it's misleading especially for people new to the system.

Actually you do have to provide bank statements, since CIC want to be sure you have not recently borrowed the funds and that the money is genuinely yours.

Failing to provide statements and providing only a balance letter risks rejection at the CIO stage, or visa office may ask you for statements later on in the process. But at some stage it is highly likely statements will be required, so it is easier to just send them with the initial application and not risk rejection.

Best of luck with your application,
Wayne.

Hi - I have heard of visa offices asking for up to 12 months statements. Sometimes 6 months, but certainly no more than 12 months.

Please note that people HAVE had just bank letter/certificate allowed by CIO, but almost always visa office will ask for statements. But with their being only 500 spaces per NOC, a rejection for many people means there will be no opportunity to re-apply, so why risk it?

If you can, try to get 12 months bank statements to accompany any certificate/letter. Most banks can probably just print 1 statement out to cover the entire 12 months period if you ask.

Best of luck with your application,
Wayne.
