Hi All,

Please give me a rough number of how much money I need to show to the visa officer for a 6 month visa application?

I have a sponsor who stated in his invitation letter that he will be responsible for all the expenses while I am in Canada.

Looking forward to your advices.

Thanks,
V.G.

the official response when I asked this question at the Embassy in Lima for a tourist visa is that the decision is made "case by case" and they do not give you a specific number, even when I requested an approximate number they wouldn't say.

i know a friend who went to Canada and stayed with his fiancee's family, they wrote an invitation letter stating they would cover all his expenses and he got approved - with only about $500.00 CAN in his bank account.

so it depends on your situation if you get the invitation letter from someone  in Canada stating they will cover EVERYTHING for you, the number is much lower than if you go as a tourist and will stay in hotels, eat at restaurants, etc.

unfortunately, it really is case by case!! show as much proof as you can and try to save as much as you can.
