Hi Friends,

I am working as a project coordinator for an advertising agency. My core job responsibilities are managing medium and small level projects, creating time lines for these projects, launching the project websites, deploying the same and creating project status reports and summaries.
The next promotion step for me is to become a project manager.

I believe my job duties fall under NOC code 1122.. Can anyone please advise if 1122 is indeed the code which I can choose to file my application under?

Also, if 1122 dosent satisfy my profession, the other option I have is to maybe file for Alberta Provincial nominee program but that dosent cater to project coordinator. That is for advertising and project managers. If i have to go down that route, then I will have to wait to become a project manager and then apply for PNP which might take me around 2 years to become a manager.

Seniors please advise.. Your inputs are highly appreciated!

Thanks,
Lucky

Hello, I am a legal assistant at an Immigration law firm in Toronto and will gladly give you my expertise on the matter.  NOC codes are usually VERY specific in nature e.g. Nurse, Dentist, Doctor, Architect.  The one NOC code that is not specific is 1122, Professional Occupations in Business Services to Management.  There are MANY different occupations that can fall under this category, which is why it is very commonly sought.  You can qualify for this NOC code if you can confirm that you have performed at least 50% of the following duties INCLUDING the first:

Analyze and provide advice on the managerial methods and organization of a public or private sector establishment

Conduct research to determine efficiency and effectiveness of managerial policies and programs

Conduct assessments and propose improvements to methods, systems and procedures in areas such as operations, human resources, records management and communications

Conduct quality audits and develop quality management and quality assurance standards for ISO (International Organization for Standardization) registration

Plan the reorganization of the operations of an establishment

Supervise contracted researchers or clerical staff.

If you have an advertising and promotional consultant position, you can also qualify for this NOC code if you have performed the FIRST and one of another of the following:

Assess characteristics of products or services to be promoted and advise on the advertising needs of an establishment

Advise clients on advertising or sales promotion strategies

Develop and implement advertising campaigns appropriate for print or electronic media.

Those duties cannot be re-worded on the application form, specifically the Schedule 3 work history form.  If you are able to confirm that you have performed 50% of those duties including the first for at least 1 year (or 2 years part-time), then you DO qualify for this NOC code.
Unfortunately, this NOC code is no longer available as the Government quota has been reached TODAY (11/05/2010).  My advice if you qualify, is to wait until July 2011 to begin the application process.  That being said if the NOC code 1122 still exists then, apply as quickly as possible because that is the category that goes the most quickly.

Hope this helps and good luck!!
