Processing times in-Canada with Interview

I am sponcering my husband in an in-Canada application. 

We met in his home country 2 years ago.  As I could no longer stay in his country as a worker or a tourist legally, I came back to canada.  We had a 5 month long-distance relationship, and finally he came to Canada on a student visa (taking a language course) so we could be togeather.  I didn't have enough evidence of our living togeather in his country to claim common-law, because I never thought we'd have to apply for PR.  When he came to canada he was only granted a 6 month visa so we would never be able to live 12 consecutive months togeather to claim common-law.  We're also a same-*censored word* coulple and we could not get married in his country.

So, in May shortly after he came to Canada we got married.    Yes, basically we got married for immigration (of course I would never tell CIC that directly), but there was also no way for us to be togeather.  We got married first and foremost because we love eachother and want to stay togeather.  Do you think CIC will inturpet this as a "non-genuine" relationship/marriage?

Also, I have the gut feeling that we will be required to go to an interview with a CIC officer.  If we do have to go for an interview, how much time would that add to the in-Canada processing time for first-stage approval of 5-6 months?

If the Case Processing Center in Vegreville determines that you need an interview, they will transfer your file to the local CIC office that services the area you live in.  How much time it will add to processing depends on the timeline of that local office. 

You need to consider and understand that the two of you getting married once he was in Canada (especially when you couldn't get married in his country) will not automatically make CIC suspect the relationship.  What CIC means by a genuine relationship is that the relationship is not about facilitating the entry of the foreign national to Canada.  So, whether or not you are required to attend an interview is going to depend more on what types of evidences you provided that you've had a consistent and long standing committed relationship.  Two years together in his country is a good start - and his being admitted to Canada on a student visa so that you could continue the relationship in Canada helps, too.  The fact that you married once he got to Canada should actually work in your favour, not the other way around.  Hopefully you illustrated all of that sufficiently enough that they will waive the interview.
