Okay, so the guide reads 8 months.  But I would like to know your own personal experiences.  How long did it take, or how long has it taken so far?  Thanks!  (BTW I'm sponsoring my common-law partner and our dependant child).

The eight months is a guide for a "full complete application", actual timings vary wildly, about three months to way over a year.
Every case is different, look at the threads Jan 2011 - Feb 2011, they have the real life timings displayed in a table.
The only guarantee is, your timeframe are not likely to be the same as anyone else's.

Hey, I can't answer your question from personal experience since I'm applying outland through Australia, but there is a thread here that may help:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/thread-for-outland-london-uk-applications-t49436.0.html

I guess it will also depend on any extra paperwork they may request... we had to redo some and send in specific extra documents and they did temporary lose the police check so that tacked on another month.

Good luck!

It really depends on the nationality if you are British then 3-4 months average "as per cases in this forum", however if thats not the case then expect a longer period of time to process application and definite chance of interview. I know three cases which took 9-12 months and an Iraqi case which took even more.

Consider this - The dramatic speed of your full process may be because the UK wanted you out of the country really fast Smiley

Actually, that was said to me a while ago - LOL.
