processing time in Extention of work permit

Hello,
We are in a very difficult situation. My husband's work permit has expired on 13th of April-2011. He works with an IT company. His company's legal representative has submitted the application for extention of work permit on 15 Feb-2011 via mail which has been received to CIC on 25 of Feb-2011. Now CIC is showing processing time of 143 days (till date) which can vary.
Our problem is that our OHIP has also expired on 13th April. Now i called up OHIP help line, they said if we receive extened work permit within 90 days of expiry, they will reimburse us all the expenses incurred during the period of 13April to 13 July. But if we receive it later than 90 days then there will be no reimbursement from OHIP. But no one is sure about it. My querry is:-
1) What could be the max time CIC can take to renew the work permit.
2) If  we receive renewed work permit after 13 July then can we get the reimursement from the OHIP for expenses incurred.
3) Is there any alternative to cover the medical exp during this period.
Please help me whith your comments.
