yes, i think you need to give the police report because it's a long period of time. my husband lived in uk for two years and i provided it. you should start working on obtaining the Indian police report and in in the mean time send the Colombo office an email saying that you will try to submit it asap, but just to give you a little more time in case it takes longer

but i am impressed at the rate they are looking at applications when they receive them!!! my application was trasferred to colombo on January 19, 2012 (thats wen i got the sponso approval letter) and I had not included the colombo police certificate when I submitted to Missisagua. But they didnt contact us for more than a month to ask for the police report. However my husband went at the end of February and submitted it

He submitted in person. I wouldn't rely on Sri Lankan post for these type of important things. anyways it's a good reason to go to the embassy and also to find out what they are doin with ur file right?

Thanks Jaffna for this valuable update. I had no idea the government makes available such data to the public. I checked the open data page and this is the link for anyone wishing to look it up themselves

I believe you could show other proof that you are able to support your husband when he arrives here such as bank statements, at the same time you could explain your situation in detail and let them know you are expected to go back to work .  Did you quit your job completely or just few months off?  i would call the agent and ask them the question.
