Preparing to Return Home to the US without Hubby ;(

I do have a few questions...I am preparing to return back home (USA) from Canada...as life and work calls.  However, I do have a few questions...

when I cross into the USA, if they should ask me what the nature of my visit was...do I state I was visiting my husband?  Originally when I crossed we were not married. 

I have a copy of all the immigration application/paperwork in the trunk of my car, with receipt and overnight confirmed postage. 

Also, should I ask for my passport to be stamped even if I am flagged through? It was not stamped at time of entering Canada, which I have read is common.

and last but not least:

Should I be proactive and do anything while I am at the border...(visit the Canadian Immigration side)  apply for an extension so the next time I return I will know in advance if I will be able to cross without issues?

I thank you all...I have a concerns from reading some of the posts. Of course I want to be able to see/visit my husband without delays.  Any advice is welcomed.

What you tell US immigration is not going to affect your PR application for Canada.  Tell them the truth.

I haven't heard of anyone visiting the Canadian side on their way out to apply for an extension in these circumstances.  Just my opinion but it could turn into one of two things, either you will get your extension and all is well.  Or it will flag you to Canada Border Services Agency and they may give you a hard time upon your return. 

If I were you, and please note that this is an OPINION, I would not go to the Canadian side but when I visited Canada again, I would bring documentary proof of employment, bank account, lease or mortgage in the US, etc.  Anything that shows ties and can prove to CBSA that you are just visiting and don't plan to stay illegally.  Maybe others with chime in with their thoughts.  Good luck.

U should not have a problem by telling them at the border you were visiting your husband. I have done it plenty of times and so far all they've ever asked is, How in the world do you have a husband in Canada? and where he was a citizen of.
