hi there...

looking for a place to start here...

my situation... i'm engaged to a Jamaican who is living in the UK... he was declined a visitors visa last year to visit, we're getting married in May... I'm pregnant, due in late October... I want him there for the birth one way or the other...

from my understanding based on the average processing time for an application submitted in late may would put him here past my due date...

since we haven't started any paperwork yet, would a visitors visa be a) possible and b) likely? do they grant visas for compassionate reasons like this to help have parents present at the birth of their child? obviously we'd be apply for his residency once he reached Canada, I'd just rather have him here than away, don't really want to do this by myself!!!

please help!!!
thanks!

Try to get your future husband to show that he has ties to the UK. That he will be returning back after the visit.

The main reason that I believe they reject visitor visas is because people do not properly show their intent to return to their country.

Good luck.

he really has no ties to the UK and thus the reason he was declined last year...  i guess this means there are no compassionate reasons allowing these things?

they wont issue him a visitor's visa if he has no ties and has already been refused
also, if you were not seeing him at the time he was refused his visa that will work against you during your application

i have a friend of mine in a similar situation she has been waiting for 1.5 years since his was holding a jamaican passport but living in the UK....they were refused mid march seemingly because of his having applied to come as a visitor...it looks like to immigration he is just trying to get in

you really need to do some research on this one before you send your application in...if you haven't already...to minimize your chances of being refused....maybe PMM can respond as to whether you can make the application to sponsor him out of jamaica and he would have to fly there for the interview if necessary
