Hi Friends,

My wife is 5 months pregnant. Our cases are lying ' In process' from Apr 7 with CHC, New Delhi. Please help me get answers to my following questions:

(1) Suppose that we receive medical request next month (her 6th Month pregnancy)...can she go for the medical test?

(2) Suppose if request the CHC officer to postpone the medicals...how much extension can be granted, if there is a limit?

(3) Can this happen that I get my medical done, get the visa and travel to Canada.....and my wife and our kid (when the baby is born:))?

Thanks,

Regards,

CAN BE DONE -BUT NOT ADVISABLE AT ALL. U MUSN'T TAKE THE RISK, EVEN WITH THE 'PROTECTIVE SHIELD'.

USUALLY THEY WILL AGREE TILL SHE DELIVERS & IS READY.

NO. U CANNOT GET THE VISA WITHOUT THE COMPLETE FAMILY DOING THE MEDS. U CAN DO YOUR OWN MEDS THOUGH -BUT THAT WON'T SERVE ANY PURPOSE.

I strongly suggest 2nd option....if u under go ur medicals then u have to land within a year of medicals date ....n it mite take longer to get baby's immigration done...also donot risk the x ray coz now the baby  is big enough n will be affected by the rays....when u recieve meds request them to extend the date for ur meds submission.

If you were to get your medicals and get your PR visa in time to land before the baby is born, that would work but if you can not land before the baby is born, you will have to request the visa office to add the baby to your application so the baby can get a PR visa too.

Hey Panks,

Generally, x-ray is safe while pregnancy.
Its radiation has minimal effects.
You better consult your doctor.

However, in case u decide no to let ur wife to take the meds. while pregnancy..I believe they would understand & appreciate your request to delay the checks.

No worries.. Smiley

Hi,

I dont remember where but in some thread I read they will do your wife's Medical without X-ray. So no need to worry. But the thing you must worry for is the time you have. Because if you & you wife don't get your Visa before your baby is born then you have to start your application from the beginning in order to get the Visa for your baby. So I would suggest you is to get your medicals done immediately when they request you and to fly with your wife as soon as you get the Visa. Get your baby born there. You can come back anytime once you get your PR card in Canada.

How long the visa is valid? I learnt that it is for one year. Then, one year from the date of medicals done or from the date of visa issuance.

You need to do your landings within 1 yr of medicals or before your passport expires which ever comes first.
