A minor child stayed away from Canada for more than 3 years (stayed in Canada for 5 months only in five years).A childs father (main applicant) completed his stay of 2 years in five years. Will the PR status of child get renewed?

I don't think so.  Every person who has PR needs to meet the residency requirements.  They can apply on humanitarian and compassionate grounds for the child to keep PR and if that doesn't work out, the father can sponsor it again.

Leon, what happens if the minor and the spouse are the ones that are able to follow the rules to keep the PR while the main applicant before was not able to follow the 2 in 5 year rule? Do the minor and the spouse lose their PR also?

No, unless the principal was an entrepreneur who didn't have the conditions removed.

Normally if the family has a normal non-conditional PR, it does not matter after they land in Canada who was the main applicant.  Each of them has to meet the residency requirements to keep their PR without it affecting the others.  If at least one of the parents keeps PR, they can sponsor everybody else again but keeping on paying the fees to keep PR for a family that doesn't actually want to live in Canada seems a waste of money to me.
