Hi,

My dad has applied for PR under FSW1 category and we did our medicals and submitted passport in early October 2010. In mean time I got admit from Concordia university for Msc Computer Science for fall 2011.Now I don't know whats taking so long to stamp our passports. So my question is Can I apply for student visa? Will I face any problem because of my PR application is in process(As Dependent)? Do I have to go through medicals again?

thanks..

The chances of getting the student visa are very slim. With your Pr application , there is no way you can proof to them that you will leave Canada after graduating from the program.

My advice is to postpone your studies till you land.

It is only my opinion and please wait for the seniors.

hello

If you are lucky then you will get student permit but chances are very low, because in student visa we show that after completing our course we will come back our home country to utilize that education.we show our intention that we are not staying there after our finishing our course. so its upto you.

YYes dear

It's matter , because I was the main applicant and my wife applied student visa , she was dependant on my pr application. They refused and said your intention is not going back to your country.

So choice is your.

one more question if you don't mind me asking were you the dependent in your wife's study permit application? and will the refusal of study permit affect my dad's PR application?

Even if you want to apply for the study visa, you cannot because your passport is not with you. Your passport must be sent along with your application. I see no reason why you should apply for study visa when your father has already gotten PPR. Going Via study visa(international student) would cost you more, but waiting for the PR would reduce your tuition drastically.

If you already got place in university then you still get admission in next sessions, as said by awoderu you have to pay more then normal tution fee.So I only give you suggestion that just wait for pr.
Thanks

Sorry, I don't agree with opinion of other members. My wife got visit visa recently and our PR application is in process, I also clearly mentioned on my student visa app that if granted PR I will stay in Canada. Couple of my class mates got student visa during their PR process. if you read the guide it clearly says PR and Temporary visas are two different categories. they want you to leave Canada after you have completed your studies but same time they are offering Post Study work permit for up to 3 years which can lead to FSW-3 (Canadian Experience Class), so legally living in Canada after your studies is not a big issue. They don't want you to come to Canada as student and don't study and after completing your studies if you don't have a valid visa like work permit, post study work permit or PR then you should leave Canada. So, if your PR application is in process and you want to apply for study permit and you meet all the requirements for study permit apps then no problem. if you contact relevant VO they will say same thing, I got similar reply back in 2010 for my wifes visit visa.

Well, it all depends on the country you are applying from and also your bank statements and other things So it all depends on the person applying.
