Hi!
I sent my application for PR under H&C and after 2 months, they sent me a letter saying they sent it to my local office for processing, and that they will contact me if other information is needed, etc. This was 6 months ago.
I went online to check the status of my application and it still says it's in process in my local office.
Question 1: How long will it take from now?
Question 2: It says it's an application for Permanent Residence, but it doesn't say it's under H&C. Below they show links about the steps of a regular PR, but there's no link about H&C. Is this normal?
Question 3: If Vegreville sent my application to the local office for processing, does that mean they confirmed all the proper documentation was attached with the application?
Thanks for your help!
From my experience:
1: Please see time lines here (this is a two stage process):
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-other.aspH&C can take up to 20 months. In my experience (H&C of a child) it took almost 8 months to get Stage 1 approval. Stage 1 means she is approved for processing on H&C within Canada and can be used to get OHIP, etc. Stage 2 is supposedly background check, etc.
2: This was the same as the application I made for H&C for my child. So it is normal. Here is the text from it:
We received your application for permanent residence on October 15, 2010.
We started processing your application on November 30, 2010.
We transferred your application to the local CIC office on January 16, 2011. The local CIC office may contact you.
A decision has been made and you will be contacted. (June 24th 2011)3: Yes. They check your docs and send them on for further processing if they are complete and correct. This doesn't imply approval but just correctness of your application. If you don't mind me asking which office was your application sent to for further processing: Etobicoke, Vancouver, some place else? I ask because if it is sent to Vancouver that is a good sign because Vancouver handles backlog of Etobicoke and can lead to speeding up the process.
