Hi All!!!
I have recently been granted permanent residence in Canada along with  my family of 4. Since my kids are still in school and won't be out till June, I am planning in doing the landing  in March alone while husband stays home with kids . I will stay no more than 10 days in Canada. My husby will then be able to do his landing in April without me, and start working, and finally I will be re-entering in June with kids to do their landing and stay in Canada permanently. Now, there is this issues I am wondering about and will really appreciate if someone "conocedor" will answer them.

 1) In the permanent documents issued to us and to be given upon landing, it says we are settling in Thunder Bay, but we have changed our minds and planning to settle in Ottowa which is were I will be doing my landing. My husband will be doing his landing probably by April in Toronto due the fact that he already has a job offer there. And then my kids will be doing their landing in Ottowa. Will this represent any inconvenience to us in  customs and immigration, since we are planning to settle somewhere else of the place we stated in our PR application? Please note that we will be doing the landings separately and not all at the same time....  basically it will be in 3 phases. Huh

2) Since I am doing the landing alone and not with my family together, should I bring all the funds at once with me even though I am not bringing my husband and kids ? and also, I really dislike the idea of bring 2 much cash money with me.... can I bring my printed online bank statements of my accounts in USA and express the immigration officer my intentions of opening a bank account first and then doing a transference money? Huh

3) Should I bring the original documents of the permanent papers issued to my family with me when I do my landing or just the ones pertinent to me? Huh

Please, I will really appreciate some advice on this matters! Ty again.

Hi bigsweetpie,

Please go through this thread for landing locations.
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t35499.0.html

So you are the principal applicant.

1) You can land in Ottawa no issues. Seperately.
Even your hubby can land in Ottawa as it is only 3 hrs drive to Toronto.
School is not an issue for your kids. They will be given admission immidiately. Why waste time?
Go through this thread  http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t72241.0.html

2) You have to carry full landing funds in Cash/DD/TC or Open an account in Scotia bank in Canada, transfer money and show the statement at border. Also goods you are carrying and which follows.

3) You should carry only your original documents and keep a copy of others.

For more info you can go thru the following thread
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/qorax-indexed-t74858.0.html
and/or contact VIP members like Qorax, PMM, Leon, saki, ...... they will guide you at every step.

Hope it was of help to some extent.

All the best

Hi rayon_joy,

They can give a friend's address in Canada to get the PR by post and S/he can courier it to them so that they can travel or apply for travel document (PRTD). From US I think it is easy.
