Hi There,

My husbands PR card expires this month. His citizenship for canada is in process and according to the timeline online they started process in May 2011. We had thought that he would have been booked in for the exam by now and so we wernt worried about the card expiring.

Does his card have to be valid for him to continue working or because he is in the process of citizenship is it all ok?

Thanks!

GVF

Its perfectly ok. The PR card is a requirement for travelling outside of canada. If he meets the residency obligation of 1095 days in canada out of last 4 years then hes entitled to get the citizenship.
Hope this helps

His PR status doesn't expire just because the card does.  The card is his proof of status to come back to Canada if he has travelled but if he stays in Canada and works, he doesn't need it.
