Hi, Could anyone please explain to me the differance between sponsoring and obtaining a PR card for my husband.  I'm a Canadian citizen living in Ireland and my husband is Irish.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks

You would have to sponsor him before he can obtain a PR card unless he qualifies to apply for PR through some other means and would rather do it that way.

The PR (permanent resident) card is what every permanent resident is issued. You sponsoring him would be getting him the PR status. He can't get a PR card until he's a PR.

Have a look here, similar question.
