Hi Everyone,
My spouse and I have in landed in Canada today. At the time of landing the IO asked us many questions about when we are coming to live in Canada permanently. We had told them that we are here for 3 days and we will be returning to the US after completing the landing process.

After completing all the paperwork, the IO said that we will not be provided the PR card until we come to live in Canada permanently. He also said that the PR card cannot be mailed and must be picked up in person. He gave us the IMM 5456 and said we will need to fill it up and send to CIC when we come and live in Canada permanently.

We are confused . The form itself says that we are supposed to provide CIC an address within 180 days of landing. We have a friend's address we were going to provide to the IO.

We desperately need some advice on what we should do to get our PR card.  Should we apply online or by Fax ? We are here in Canada till wednesday.

Thanks ! All help appreciated.

You realize of course that Service Canada doesn't have anything to do with Permanent Resident Cards?
