So since I landed on September 4th I should have my card by now obviously. The woman agreed and said she would send a message to Sydney, NS and asked me to call back in 2 weeks. I could barely hear the woman cause her phone kept breaking up.

Hello,

Well I called the PR Card line and I was told that our pictures are not valid... it took them 4 months to let us know that, even though we did send the pictures as they requested taken by a professional photographer, so I do not know if there mas have been a milimeter missing somewehre, or if they lost them and this is just their standard excuse. Anyway, not much I can do about that.

I was told that I was sent a form to fill out and send new pictures to an immigration office by post.

Has anyone done this? is it an easy process? or is it going to be as lengthy and tedious as they one I have just been through?

Thanks.

Hi, the exact same thing happened with my husband's PR card as well. He landed July 8th..we just got a letter this Monday saying the pics weren't suitable and to fill out the form and send the pics. I called the CIC centre they said it will take approx. 4 weeks from when we send hte stuff...who knows!!!!!!

Same thing here.
I landed on 21 July and called to check, they kept telling me to call back until they decided to tell us that our pics were not suitable. It only took them 4 months to tell us that ;-)
Very annoying but nothing we can do, now we are waiting for the forms that they said they were going to send, and we are still waiting. There is something really wrong with the Canadian mailing system.

@ edupolo: I can understand your frustration. I hope you will get your Letter for Photograph soon .......

@ Crillz: I have landed on 14th September, 2011 (Toronto Pearson Airport). After more than 6 weeks, I called CIC on 1st November, 2011 and asked about PR Card. The lady told me that she is going to send CIC an E-mail regarding my PR Card and CIC usually reply in 30 days time.

Today, in the morning (1st December, 2011) I called again and came to know that CIC did not bother to reply, so, therefore, Call Agent asked me to call after 15 days. I am really upset and have already postpone my travelling program twice.

As I am from a developing country therefore, was not expecting this type of service from a highly developed country. At least they have to reply in 30 days time !!! I wish they can understand the problems of new immigrants. Best Wishes to everyone !!!

My partner will be landing on Dec 11, but he has to leave the country in January for awhile to finish up his schooling.
He will be done at the end of January and plans to come back to Canada in mid-February.

What do you think the chances are that his PR card will actually have arrived by the time that he has to come back into Canada.

Also, if it looks like it won't arrive in time, what are his options? Since he is visa exempt and there is no reason for them not to let him into the country, could he just enter as a German citizen, or is that not possible once he has landed?

Hi Sidkrose,

If he has a German passport he can just enter Canada on the basis of his passport; however, he will need to carry the COPR and maybe some documentation to proof he is a permanent resident, just because airlines may need more information in order to let you in with a  one-way ticket.

I hold an EU passport and the immigration officer in Canada told me this on arrival. Lucky for me because my PR cards are now nearly 5 months late and I still need to re-send new pics.

Thanks for the info. So if he doesn't get his pr card, when he comes back into Canada, would he go through the citizens and ps customs, or the foreign customs?

Guys
I had landed on 25th of June this year and still waiting for my PR card, I called the help desk yesterday and after an hour of wait was told that the file was transferred to some local office on 18th Oct. The help desk guy said that I might have to send pictures again. I had read someplace that sometimes the PR card comes directly even if the call center people say that it was stuck for the want of pictures. Also can anybody tell me if there is a form which we need to fill again. My wait period is ridiculous it has been over 5 months now.

Thanks guys

Hi everyone! We are all in the same boat. We arrive here last Sept. 22 and I still don't have my PR card yet. My son and daughter's PR card arrive 3 weeks ago so I called up yesterday. They told me that it was not yet sent and I have to wait until January next year. The person I talked to even told me to call on February if I haven't receive it by that time. This is ridiculous. How can that be?

Hi ,
I have read your helful posting on a thread about Canadian/American marriage and I think it will make me change my decision 100%. I would appreaciate it if you can take 2 mins of your time to read my situation and answer few questions. Here is our story: I am Sylvia - Canadian, my husband is American, married in NYC July 2009, I got the green card , this AUgust 2011 came to Ontario and decided to stay here and send the papers for him. We received the NY criminal certificates, waiting any moment to receive the FBI next week hopefully. Did already the medical here in Toronto, the doc's office said they are going to mail them directly to Ottawa, we don;t get even to touch the enveloppe. Now I was planing to do the papers inland as my husband wnats to stay here bur since I read your post now I realized we can do the outland eventhough he is here with me. I know now to send for extending his visitor status before the 6th month thank to you. My questions are:
1.when I prepare all the forms , FBI and state criminal certificates, pictures, evidance about the genuinity  of the marriage, everything - do I send them to Buffalo or to Mississsuga? 2. What happens to the medical that we already did if it is in Ottawa and we send them outland? 3. Do I send with everything also Application for work permit or it is not needed?

Your answer is much appreciated, the post that read was excellent, congrats on your Canadian landed.
I have my car with me as well (still with NY plates), I am gonna deal with it at later time, now I have no more brain to think about it .
You can write to me directly at svihi @ hotmail.com
Thank you kindly
Sylvia
