hi all
landed in Toronto May 21 2011
SIN and Driver's license got it within 2 weeks
returned to India, got a Magic Jack with a Canadian number.
Used this to call, and found that the cards were sent to our address on Jul 18th (within 40 working days)
Our friend received the cards on Aug 1 (over 10 working days for Canada post to deliver)
But then the card for our 2 yr toddler not received!!! We are waiting for another week before calling to find if her photo
didn't match their specs... anyway will wait until we r ready to move for good b4 bothering to re apply for her card.

An update! Big advantage of having the magic jack. Can call the call centre from here in India. Looks like our daughter's photo are in order and teh PR card was to be issued but yet was not... so it did not reach our friend's address. This sounded a lot better than it being either lost or that the photo didn't meet the specs. The agent said that she would send a message to issue the card right away... hope the card gets issued and then we needn't worry about visiting Canada just for the picture... cprak0 |

Hi friends;
I landed late June, and I still haven't received my PR cards yet. I'm in UAE and I'm waiting the PR cards to be able to go back to Canada. Does any know how long will it take to get my cards? Please be informed that the CIC website stated that the processing time of PR cards at the time I landed was 40 Business days. I' m almost there. Can anyone advice on this. Did anyone land in July got PR cards. Please share here.
One more question; does the address shown on the 'Online Application Status' indication if they processed our PR CARDS. At the moment it still shows the old address although I faxed my address in Canada in June and I did also sent address notification few weeks back. Please advice.

Try calling Thursdays/ Fridays between 9:00 - 10:00 am EDT. Mostly whenever I called early I could get them but yet had to wait for almost 10 minutes each time... I have called them now over 5 times... all this from India using a magic jack with a Toronto number. cprak0 |

They finally answered me on my 7th attempt. Anyway. my photos seem not to meet the specs. According to CIC I will receive a letter soon from a local CIC office to make an appointment with them (  ) and bring them new photos. |

I came to Canada two years ago (Aug. 23, 2009), expecting to get PR within 6-9 months. To my bewilderment and surprise the process has taken much longer than expected.
Anyway.... Last week CIC asked for my Passport.
I'm a bit confused what happens now. I assume when they mail back my Passport with VISA it is for the purpose of Landing?
Does that mean I can then "Land"? (they mentioned in their most recent letter that I had to land within 30 days.)
Do I have to go to the border (Buffalo being closest) to Land?
Has anyone been able to go to Toronto Pearson airport without flying in to Land? I am currently living (as a visitor LOL) 20 minutes from the Pearson Airport.
When will I get PR papers?
And more importantly when will I be able to apply for SIN so I can legally work full time here in Canada?

My sister in law wrote to say my card arrived!!! Yey! Now hubby can bring it to the border when he picks up the kids & I for visits.
