Hi! Bro, Good, you get a positive response from CIC. We landed on 11 June in Mississauga. Can you please tell me which number you called? I have tried 1888-242-2100 twice but it always said all agents are busy, call again.
Please advise. Thanks!

I want to know how to know the status of my dependents?shud i call them and give their client ID# and all?

thanks.
Note: I landed on 8th june 2011

The best thing is to find a Service Canada office near you, and go there to apply for your SIN. You will need either your PR Card or your COPR + PR visa (in your passport). Best to start reading here: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sc/sin/index.shtml. The actual application form is very simple Smiley.

hi all
landed in Toronto May 21 2011
SIN and Driver's license got it within 2 weeks
returned to India, got a Magic Jack with a Canadian number.
Used this to call, and found that the cards were sent to our address on Jul 18th (within 40 working days)
Our friend received the cards on Aug 1 (over 10 working days for Canada post to deliver)
But then the card for our 2 yr toddler not received!!!  We are waiting for another week before calling to find if her photo
didn't match their specs... anyway will wait until we r ready to move for good b4 bothering to re apply for her card.

I haven't either!  (I landed May 2).  I think I will call on Tuesday and see if they have anything helpful to tell me.

I landed end of April.  I called CRA and they said my card mailed June 3rd - right before the Canada Post strike started.  I STILL haven't received (~65 days at this point) - and I am living in Canada (Canada Post estimates 5 day delivery time in country - uhuh).  Unfortunately, it apparently takes 7 weeks to reissue if I report it lost in the mail.  Also, if you report it lost, then receive the card (which of course will happen the next day due to that little thing called Murphy's law), it is invalid and you have to wait for the new one.  They mailed the form to me anyway and said if I received it before I received the card to send it back in.  That was almost two weeks ago and I haven't received the letter yet either!  You would think Canada Post would have caught back up by now.  Over two months to deliver a letter seems a bit extreme - especially when it's a government document.  Luckily, I have my paperwork from crossing the border which covers everything except flying (which I don't have any immediate plans to do).  However, I would still like to know if I need to fly home quickly for a family emergency, I have the ability.  Glad to know I am not the only person waiting, as it gives me hope it might just be ridiculously delayed and might arrive any day..... sigh.  Fingers crossed!

Don't give up hope!  They are painfully slow, but mine just showed up in the mail box.

Best part?  It's post date is August 3.   Roll Eyes
