Still waiting for mine, too... 9 weeks and counting. On a more positive note, though, I do have my SIN card, and I applied for health care last week.  I'll be eligible on Aug. 2, and they said they'd send that card a few days before. Then, all I have to do is take care of the importing/exporting of my car and my drivers license.  Oh yeah... and changing ALL of that ID over to my married name.  |

 one of my friends landed the same day as mine. 4.26! He made a phone call today, the cic agent said the card was send on 6. 23!

Also called today, they said the card was printed and sent July 4th.
We are keeping our fingers crossed as we have a trip booked July 18th-21st and really dont want to cancel the tickets again.
Little worried though we just got mail today sent July 16th, damn mail strike.

Today was a really bad day. I had a big project that I wanted to finish at work and everything kept messing up and I only ended up finishing half of it. Then I tripped and fell getting on the bus which didn't hurt but was so embarrassing. I was having a really bad day.
Then I got home and MY PR CARD HAD ARRIVED IN THE MAIL! Huzzah!
Current location: Calgary, AB
Date of Landing: April 25th, 2011
Date of PR card arrival: July 8th, 2011
Any problems incurred: Postal Strike, Mail back-up, Armageddon
Total time of waiting: 10.5 weeks

I know what you mean shandymoo. It doesn't feel quite official yet even though it is. This is the only real thing to wait on. It feels like the days are taking longer to get this versus the application part of waiting. Lets hope time speeds up and we can get our cards soon. |

I have a weird question,
My wife is Latina, so she has 4 names (2 first names and 2 last names). She has heard that when she gets to canada at the port of entry, they will ask her if she wants to use her whole name or change it to something else. Could she use only 1 first name and one last name for her SIN and PR Card?

Finally got my card today. Current location: Vancouver, BC Date of Landing: April 21, 2011 Date of PR card arrival: July 13, 2011 Any problems incurred: just took forever Total time of waiting: 12 weeks (minus one day - there were 3 holidays in there too) Now I just need my healthcare card and I'll be a "real" Canadian. |
