Hi Forum members,

Since June 2008 the PR card is sent by CIC to all landed immigrants, by default.

Just wanted to know how much time it takes, the official time is 48 business days.

Please share you experiences on the timings for getting the PR card.

Thanks in advance.

It depends. There is + or - to the standard time frame. Probably if you wish to get it early, it could be late Cheesy . Canada post is some what slower than before!!. If you want to check, drop an envelop by yourselves ( or ask some one else ) in any city addressed to your mail box.

Is there any way to speedup the procedure.

No way except waiting.
If you have to leave Canada for some before getting the PR Card, there are other options.

Nitin, it is taking 9-10 weeks these days to get the PR card and there is no way to expedite it.

As I understand it, it also depends greatly on which port of entry you used when you landed.

Some are faster than others.

We landed in Vancouver and were quoted 4 to 6 weeks by the immigration official. Will be able to let you know for sure when our PR cards arrive.

Also I would recommend attending a CIIP course after you get med requests!

The recent strike by Canada Post makes the service worse.
