Hello,

I am about to apply for PR from within Canada. I have a year-long temporary working visa which expires in January 2009. Does my application for PR automatically extend my current visa until a decision on my PR is made, or do I need to apply for a new work permit?

With that, my visa is a SWAP visa, and I'm pretty sure does not count as a work permit. Does this mean I have to apply for a completely new work permit? My current employer will help but it seems like a mammoth task

1.  No, you would require an LMO and apply for a new work permit.
