Received letter advising SR Jan 19, 2016
Request for entry/exit record Oct. 20, 2016 ( which I provided)
No update since then
Right now I am in contact with my MP`s office and they are following my case with IRCC

at the time that I submitted my application. processing time was 180 days. It took them 5 months only to send me a letter advising SR
Thank you for the details, no doubt, someone in IRCC messed up with your file. Please let us know when you get the card and also the outcome of the follow up with your MP.

Senior members can help me in my SR application :

Total numbers of days inside Canada when applied 740 days
Currently I am out of Canada since May 21, 2017
I applied 2 months before my PR card expired, and left 9 days before expiry for an emergency, I am out of Canada.

Document I submitted after it went into SR which was asked by CIC
  • Color copy of all pages of my passport
  • Certified translation of stamps that were not in English
  • Entry/exit details prepared on excel sheet
Whether or not I should send the following now as a follow up from outside Canada?
  • Valid Alberta Health Card
  • Valid Driving License
  • Pay stubs for the period I was employed
  • Notice of assessment 2012 to 2017
  • Bank statement
  • Credit card statement
  • Copy of some of my boarding passes entering and exiting Canada during past 5 years
  • Travel history obtained from CBSA
Thanks in advance.

Hi Outflare,

I sent the letter to the Case Processing Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia and just told them that I have applied since July 2016, and since then I haven't had much news, I just asked them to give me the reason of this lengthy process. And that it's been way too long, that I need to visit my family overseas and can't afford to rent a car to cross the border every time so I asked if they could process my card asap.

Just a simple letter asking them mainly to give me the reason why it's taking so long...

Good luck!

Congratulations thats great news . can you tell where did u send the letter and what exactly did u write to them .

thankyou

This form has helped me so much so thought of sharing my experience. I applied in mid-April 2017 for PR Card renewal for myself, my husband and my daughter. We had all completed around 780 days of stay in Canada in last 5 years. However, we travel a LOT! My husband has to travel almost every month. And I am also a frequent traveler. Our passports were quite messed up with thousands of stamps. in the initial PR application, we only provided the required documents (application form, passport copies, etc).On June 20th we got email from CIC that our PR has now gone for secondary review and it will take additional time. That is when i started reading this blog and to know more about what I can do from my side to expedite the process. So here is what i did:

1) I applied for Urgent PR card processing for myself using below link as my PR application was already in process. I had to travel on an official trip in oct, so I bought the ticket, attached employer letter that Its mandatory for me to travel, I attached copy of my corporate credit card as well as a proof of payment (details of whatever you need to attach for urgent processing are on CIC website).
https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx

- In addition, I provided supporting documents for proof of residency for my self , and my daughter.
- My employer letter
-T4, Notice of assessment, Credit card statements, personal bank statements, Summary of each and every stamp on my passport, tenancy agreement, I also attached US travel history obtained from I94 website, Utility bills.

2) Nothing much happened. When I called CIC they said They have accepted my card for urgent processing however, there are no guarantees on when it will be processed. We got to know that they had tagged my husband and my daughters PR processing as urgent as well.even though I was the one applying for urgent processing. So I have learned that they always process families together.

3) meanwhile I prepared all supporting documentation for my husband. It took me around 2-3 weeks to gather his supporting documentation. (
employer letter
-T4, Notice of assessment, Credit card statements, personal bank statements, Summary of each and every stamp on my passport, tenancy agreement, I also attached US travel history obtained from I94 website, Utility bills.) and submitted that. After few days of submitting the supporting documentation of my husband, our PR cards were approved. It was as if they were waiting for the supporting documents for my Husband. I was a regular CIC caller so I can say this with almost absolute certainty that my PR card would not have been approved if i had not provided supporting documentation for myself, my husband and my daughter.

4) What I have learnt is that the moment someone's cards goes into secondary review, they should start working on collecting supporting documents to prove their residency. This is the only way to expedite the case. I am 100% confident that if i had applied for urgent processing only without providing supporting documentation my PR card would not have been approved.

Applied on 18th April
In processing since June 15th
Urgent application Aug 14th with supporting documents of myself and my daughter
28th Aug husband supporting documents via IRCC Form. Thacknowledgedged it on 8th September.
PR sent for production on sep 14th
recieved Sept 20th

to be fair on visa officers - a lot of fraud happens here. A lot of people claim that they were here but they actually weren't. So providing supporting documentation always helps. It took me around 16 hours to summarize all the stamps on my passport, how can I expect visa officer to do that on my behalf? and also to process it quickly.

Hi all - just wondering if everyone sends in all the copied pages of their passport? On the Instruction Guide, it says to just send in the identification page, so I only sent in the one page. I provided proof that I met the residency requirements and included information about living with my Canadian spouse outside of the country. Not sure if the lack of all passport pages will be an issue. Thanks in advance!

@OP
Did you submit bank and credit card statements and lease agreements for the last 5 years or for 780 days only?

Hi guys! I previously posted on here that my application went into secondary review. I recently got my PR card.

My timeline:
Sent in application: Sept 2016
Went into secondary review and asked for more documents: Oct 2016
Received new PR card: Sept 2017

The whole ordeal took 1 whole year. Glad it's over now.

We have approximately the same time line, except that I haven't receive my card yet and no update since the last correspondence i received from CIC.
they requested supporting documentation and I did provide everything in a very organized fashion ( a letter and supporting documentation, stamps , home rent, car ownership, bills , work contract, salary slips, Notice of assessment ....etc) and sent it by courier. no reply so far still under process.

i used to call CIC every friday. I am based in Toronto, so I used to dial in at 740 am. As then when lines open at 8 am i was usually the first one (so very little wait time). Dial for operator assistance, which comes after you have provided your unique client ID. Usually call centers have updated information on your application. The IRCC website was never updated in my case till they mailed my PR Card.

Hi - is it worth calling that frequently? As I have read on the forums, that the operators really have no idea at what stage your application is and they give more or less the same reply that is reflected on your application's online status. Ps if you could let us know whether the operators were helpful in clarifying at what stage your application is. Thanks.
