I missed a component in my Proof of Citizenship application.

And I'm uncertain what my next step should be.

I feel horrible. Even after checking twice, I didn't include the receipt for the application fee with all the other documents. I found it on my desk after mailing the application.

I had thought I'd wait till I got notice from the CIC, or got my packet back in the mail but it's been about a month and no word. Since I'm in the US I can't call the CIC.

Since I have backup copies of everything, I'm considering sending another complete package with the form, birth certificate copies, and and explanation. But I don't know if that will trigger other issues. I've been poring over the CIC website and help sections but there doesn't seem to be a section for what to do if you realize you've sent an incomplete packet. And then I'd have all my backup copies out there in the mail, and it took me months to get those copies of my father's Halifax birth certificate.

I'm torn between waiting for info, or just sending in a new application. Can anyone point me towards a good source of info? I'm willing to pay for services if that's what's required.

You can contact them through the IRCC webform, but it might take a while for a response. One time they responded to my inquiry in 2 days, another time it was almost a month.

If I were you, I would just wait for them to return it. Do you have a way to track your package? If you can confirm that they received it, you should expect some time before they would actually open it (other forum users are saying that there is a backlog in application processing), and then another week for it to get back to you.

Another user on the citizenship forum is posting his/her timeline, and it took about a month, from his/her delivery confirmation date, for him/her to receive his/her acknowledgment of receipt.

Thanks much Hawk, that was very helpful. We do have the delivery date and hasn't quite been three weeks since delivery. I knew the entire process takes about five months but couldn't tell how long is too long to wait for the acknowledgement. Now that we know we're still way under the time it usually takes I feel better. I would like to follow the timeline thread. I'm searching on "timeline" but that's generating a lot of responses. :)
