Applying for PR (Living in Quebec (Gatineau), will most likely work in Ottawa)

Hi

I've searched as much as I can but haven't found a clear answer anywhere so hopefully someone here can help

I have been n Canada for 18 months now on an IEC Visa. My grlfriend and I live in Gatineau (Just on the Quebec side of the river nex to Ottawa) SHe works there and I am no starting my application for PR.

It would seem fairly simple if I lived in any province other than Quebec but it now seems I need to apply for a Quebec Acceptance certificate.

I'm very ulikely to find a job in Quebec so I am certain I would work in Ottawa so how would this affect my application.

I would have applied for a temporary work permit based on my girlfriend's sponsorship of my PR, but now I can't find information about if i am able to do this in Quebec.

So my first 2 question are if anyone knows Can I get a temproary work permit through Quebec? Or do I need to apply through Quebec's system if I don't intend to work in Quebec but still live on that side of the river?

That's a good question, I'd be interested in knowing the answer to this as well.

I believe it will depend on your work permit, if it's open and you're allowed to work anywhere in Canada or just in Quebec. You can call Quebec immigration and CIC and ask. Or you can take the risk, work in Ottawa and take french classes on the side.. So if it ever comes up later on as a problem and you're asked why are you working outside Quebec, just show them french was a problem but you have taken classes and even do a french test strengthen your case.

This part of the forum is useless, no one will help you and you won't get a final answer. Quebec attracts low quality immigrants and from the forum here you can see the only answered threads/posts are about timelines and what document checklists.

Sadly yes, most come here to leave to other provinces after PR. It's known as the backdoor to Canada. Compare it to PNP from other provinces or the Express entry.

We all know most immigrants later leave to other provinces because they couldn't get ITAs or PNPs. While the rest live off wellfare and never really contribute to Quebec.

Lol even the rich, just pay 800,000 get the PR get back their 800,000 and move to other provinces. (investor program)

I don't concur with your statement of low quality , as i am living in this province from last couple of years , .. the reason for immigrants leaving has more to with integration challenge due to language ....and after PR everyone has equal right to live /work in any province of Canada

Yep so they choose Quebec knowing they cant speak french, then leave complaining they have integration problems. If they were "high quality" immigrants they would have went thro the Express entry or got PNP from another province.

Quebec gives them a better life and they give nothing back in return. Then they complain here in the forum when Quebec changed the system to make it harder for them. It's funny really and the nerve to ask for a refund for their application fees.

That's why Quebec has such a high unemployment rate for immigrants and spends more on them that it makes. I do understand why Quebecers are known to be racist, its because immigrants come in expecting a free lunch.

The only ones that get jobs really are the people in the IT sector and even then most of them work for Anglo companies.

if you have talked to some francophones, you will have different views.
a lot of people from Maġrib,morocco, or north africa can't find jobs in quebec, instead they move to ontario and have better jobs than in quebec.
I have met a moroccan who was a doctor in their own country, he worked in an warehouse here.
not to mention that most of immigrants drive taxi for living here.
I also asked a woman who's from cuba, she was an university professor, but she still need 4 yrs to get the credentials to teach here in quebec, she told me that she planned to move to ontario cuz it will only take her one yr to get the credentials to go back to her career.
BTW, these people speak perfect french.
I mean, you won't feel the racism in your daily life here, but when you try to get a decent job or try to get back to your own career or something,
I only can wish you good luck.
