I have seen many people are asking about the documents to prove your stay in Canada. I have listed few with documents which will strongly prove your stay in Canada, and some weaker ones. Please let me know what you feel. I would like to update the list with your inputs and provide it for future users.

Documents that depicts strong proof of residence.
1. T4 Slips from Canadian employers with province of Work in Canada
2. Filling your TAX Returns every year if you work. TAX Assesements
3. Letters from Canadian employers that you worked for them.
(All three are good proof of your residence in Canada provided you did NOT work remotely)
4. STAMPS on the passports showing your entries in CANADA and when you leave the CANADA stamps showing the entry into that country.
5. Rental Agreement/Payment Receipts/Letter from Landlords etc.
6. ANY Driving Liecence/Identity Card with Photo ID as this proves you were present in Canada for Photo
7. ANY driving test reports showing Pass/Fail.
8. TRANSCRIPTS/Academic record showing your attendance if you are studying
9. Visits to Medical Clinics/Hospitals/Payment slips showing amount paid
10. UTILITY BILLS such as telephone bills, Hydro Bills etc.
11. PROOF of CAR registration done every year (Please comment on this, I believe no one could renew it except you every year)
12. PROOF of CAR/HOME insurance policy (IF you have CAR then you need insurance so I do not know how much this is WORTH, any comments???????).
13. Letters from Provincial Government when you receive any ID card, OR asking you to submit any information etc.

Documents that depicts relatively less strong proof of residence
1. BANK Statements (Showing date and Machine ID for withdarwals, your salary account coming in etc
2. CREDIT card statements (Please comment on how much Credit Card statements matters)
3. Memberships of Professional association as well as proof of tests/exams you have written
4. GYM membership CARDS
5. TRANSIT passes
6. Any Driving tickets you got (though this does not prove you were driving your vehicle in Canada)

Documents that depicts relatively weak proof of residence
1. YOUR Driving Abstract for 5 years (May not prove you were in Canada)
2. Documents related to family members that have same address as yours (????)
3. Any other membership proof

PLEASE feel free to provide your comments/add to the list and I can update it. THANKS in advance.

Notice of assessment alone doesn't really prove anything especially when one could be living outside Canada while paying income taxes.

ok... so what else is sufficient ? ... I mean you don't have to send ALL mentioned above do you ??? sending your passport should show that you did not travel or were outside Canada right?? how far back do we have to go ? 2 years ? utility bills ??

Since we are living in BC, we get annual health insurance bills from the provincial government and we sent the last 3 years of the bill. As well as doctor visit record, passport copies and notice of assessment of the last 3 years.
