Hi,  my wife posted our application earlier this month and was received in Mississauga on the 5th Feb.  I know that it takes around 40 days for her to be approved as a sponsor (if successful!), but will she receive any notification before that decision?  I have seen some people talk about a letter with the case file number???  We have our receipt number for payment of fees and have checked the website but we are not on there yet.

I guess I am just over-worrying that our application has become lost there somewhere!!!  We have proof of delivery from the postal service and a signed for name.

I guess that it is normal to not hear anything for a while then!  Good luck!

We only saw our file on e-cas once the sponsorship was approved (took just over a month). Didn't hear anything before that.

Is e-cas the online system?  Is there a list of the various stages?  I guess we should just sit and wait.  In terms of the average processing times......is this working days or total days?

Yup, e-Client Application System or some other such nonsense. The online thingy.

Once you appear on it, you'll be able to see the status of the sponsorship application. When the permanent residence application starts processing, you'll also be able to see that and the PR applicant will be able to log in to their account if they have their file number (both accounts say the same thing so don't worry if the PR applicant can't log in). This is all, of course, if the office updates e-cas properly Smiley

I believe it is total days not business days. I think they give a hefty mailing buffer in that processing time as well for the sponsorship application too.

Thanks for that....it is really useful.  I was worried that our 'package' had got lost once it had got the processing centre.  I should just sit back and wait until mid-March I guess.

You should get some response soon. I posted my application a few days before yours and got a reply today. So yours should be soon. Good luck.

Did your reply come by mail or by e-mail?  Did it just acknowledge receipt of your application?

You won't see anything on E-CAS until they start processing your application. The processing times page was updated today. According to that, Mississauga is now processing applications received up to January 28th. Hopefully they'll get to your app in another week.
I'm waiting for them too, I know how you feel Wink

No, they won't acknowledge receipt of your application. You will just receive a letter saying you were approved as a sponsor (assuming you met all the requirements). Don't worry. You should get an answer around the beginning of March.

I got an acknowledgement by mail that first stage was approved.

I also checked the processing date on the website this morning, and was sad to see that they were only upto Jan. 28th applications but when my mail came I got the letter from them with my first stage approval.

The website is not accurate with their dates.

I just logged on to e-cas and we are on the system!

It says that they started processing on the 25th Feb and that the status is DECISION MADE and that a letter was sent out on the 25th.  It also said that it was received by them on the 6th.  I guess they could have started processing before the 25th but only put it on the system when the decision was made???

Is it a good or bad thing that they made a decision about eligiblity to sponsor so quickly?  We will be waiting for the post!

I've seen numerous applications where the sponsorship was approved in one day. Sponsors are not investigated as thuroughly as applicants, especially when they're citizens, so it goes a lot faster.

Once they started processing the sponsorship ours was done in a day too. Which visa office are you going through Welshiess?
