Hello All,

I have a query regarding landing and getting the PR card.
I have got the VISA stamped and I am planning to land in Canada in Aug-2011.
Currently, planning to go there for 2-3 weeks time and come back as I have to settle my stuff in India.

Now, I was told that PR card is mailed to us in Canada in about 6 weeks time.
Is it possible that I along with my wife go to Canada, initiate all the necessary processes and I come back to India after 2 weeks and my wife stays back in Canada and return when she gets the PR card ?

is it possible ?
Will there be any issue when I am leaving Canada ?
For re-entering to Canada next time, I believe there should not be any issue as I will have PR card carried back by my wife.

Please let me know about this as I need to plan lot of things based on your comments.

Best Regards,

Hi,

You can return before getting PR Card. If your wife is staying in Canada till she get the PR Cards that would be better. Either she can send your card to you by courier for your re-entry or she can bring to you with her so that both can travel together later. There is no problem at all for your plan. Wish you a happy landing.

Thanks Wilson, CanadianCountry.

One more question.
In your experience, how much time authorities take to send PR card after we land in Canada ?

Hi Cheesy, Thanks.

We got our PR Cards on the 22nd day of landing, that was in March 2009. Now usually it takes upto 6 weeks. But it could go more than  because of any reasons like postal delay. So, if you have an urgent need to travel back, don't wait for PR Card. If you have any relatives or friends in Canada whose mail box you are going to use, can also help you by sending the PR Cards by courier in case you want to return with your wife. Any how don't worry for a travel  without PR Card but ensure that you  get the card(s)   before your next trip. Otherwise you have to go for travel documents from Canadian embassy.

Dear...if yr wife is staying in Canada till receipt of PR cards...that would be a wonderful option. Definitely there is no issue. Just bear in mind in case you want to return to Canada before receipt of PR Card, u will have to go for temporary visa based on your landing status. After getting PR cards, no issue at all. Do also note that delays are inevitable in PR card receipt so do not get impatient.

Thanks.
Just one more question.
Will there be any issue if me and my wife come back after 2 weeks to India, and our relatives in Canada gets the PR card whenever it comes and send it to us (by courier/ by hand) ?
