POST GRADUATE WORK PERMIT/VISA VALIDITY

Hi all,

I have multiple entry visa valid until october 2015.I was to enrol for a 4 yr degree course but currently doing a 1 yr certificate course.
How soon can i get off campus work permit?Upon graduation,can i get get post graduation work permit?

If i leave temporarily for home during breaks,can i come back without problems?

To qualify for a off campus work permit you have to be a full time student. You have to get a GPA of 2.0 and above and you can only apply 6 months after you start your studies.and the post graduate work permit you can apply once you complete your certificate and you have to inform the cic that you have change from degree to diploma.and don't mind me asking which part of Canada are located at?maybe we could exchange emails if you don't mind

Hi,

For a 1 year course, you get off campus work permit only after 6 + 2 months. The 45 days is the normal processing time for the issuance of OCWP.

and students starting from January 2012 intake are generally at disadvantage of missing out precious working summer holidays. You can't work with a valid OCWP and a SIN number.

since my visa is still valid upto 2015,can i leave canada for home and come back without any problems or the law does not allow.
I intend to go back home mid 2012 and come back.Pls shed light on this too.

Hi,

With a valid study permit,passport and multiple entry visa, you are free to leave/enter Canada.

In case you leave Canada and your TRV expires, your only option is to apply either from CHC of your homeland or a visa office in buffalo, US. In such cases, you need to submit your transcript as well.
