Is it possible and will there be an issue at the port of entry ?
The reason why I ask is to keep the money in my savings account than pay enormous interest rate for using my own money held as security.

Thankyou all!

There shouldn't be.  Most of the people dissolve it before leaving the country and as soon as they receive verdict on their application.

Thankyou love552, royalsting - much appreciated.

The reason I was unsure is because the bank manager said he will report (possibly to CHC) that I broke the FD & was not pleased to hear that I am closing it.

Hi,

so why not break it once you clear port of entry.

Hmm.  In that case do it once you cross the PoE.

Hi,

You can dissolve your FD anytime you wish but as it has been suggested by Royalsting and enfield it is better if you do it post your entry in canada. Another 10-20 days are not going to make much of a difference.

Other than that, depending on the, if you have used the loan amount that you have used and if there is a minimum time period for which FD has to be placed under the bank sort of clauses involved bank might adjust some amount from the FD.

Best of luck on getting your VISA and with your studies in Canada.
