Hi,
I've been living abroad working as a teacher for the past 2 1/2 years.  My income is very low as I live in a developing country and it works out to be less than $550 per month. I have filed taxes for the past 2 years but since my income is so low and foreign and there's no real proof of income from my work (no pay stubs or anything... just direct deposit into my bank account but no stub or t4 style slip or anything...) I have filed as No Income on the tax forms. I will be working there until the summer of 2012 so my 2011 taxes will be based on being there. If I file my 2011 taxes and claim my foreign $550 on it, when I go to order the option C (we'll be filing our spousal PR papers in August 2012) will I have a normal Option C form?

Should I provide the option C? They state that if you don't have one you can write a letter of explanation. I can write I've been living/working abroad for 3 years and there are no taxes filed in the country (It's DR and only ppl who make above a certain pay bracket- which I don't- have to pay any kind of tax/ income tax) and therefore don't have an option c.

I really don't want to make this a longer and more difficult process for my future husband just because I may have screwed up my tax forms... Is it best to file the taxes with the income for 2011? Will they see my previous taxes form the year before on the 2011 option C form? Should I just file the taxes as I have for 2010 and 2009? Should I not provide the option C and just say that I've been working abroad and send a letter from my work stating my length of time there and my monthly salary?

I'm sorry for all the questions. I'm seriously stressed out about this now.

Thank you,

Tink

Just do a option C, and show your bank drafts from 2011 (describe a little where it came from).
Option C is more a prove for them that you didnt colected welfare.
You good to go!

Thats where the forum is for! Grin

Like i sayed, Option C is for them to see if you didnt colected welfare, it doesnt mather even if there is no income on it.
Just make sure you prove a little you had income (bank drafts), no mather where it came from.
