we received a letter from port of spain visa office requesting my sons original birth certificate they also wanted proof that I (the sponsor) has returned to Canada or intends to return, I am currently in the USA with my spouse but maintain a residence in Toronto dont have a lease tho but have bank accounts etc in Canada filed Taxes this year, a bit late had sent an option c print out to mississauga and the original birth certificate with the application. I am the VP of Operations of a car rental company based in the USA and Barbados so I travel quite a bit between Canada the USA and Barbados we are planning to move some Administrative functions to Canada.
Should a send a copy of the bank statements for the past 6 months along with copies of my 2010 tax return
I am a Canadian citizen but have permanent resident status in the USA

The bank statements and copy of the tax returns may not be sufficient proof, especially if you already sent them in. Remember that the law states that a Canadian citizen who sponsors a foreign national must PROVE they intend to settle in Canada when their relative is given PR. You need to show what steps you have taken to return to Canada (the home and finances are a start) but you also need to show that you are severing your ties with the current country as well. For example, they ask persons working in the middle east for exit visa, proof of resignation from their job that has been stamped by their employer and proof of cancellation of work visa. If they are unable to provide these documents, they can refuse to issue the visa.
Start thinking about ways to show how you are going to re-settle in Canada.

Hey Can4Vincy! My hubby dropped off everything at the Embassy this morning (passport/photo/declaration). They gave him a number to come back and collect his passport. They said they will call him and it generally takes from 2 - 4 weeks. I'm hoping for 2 weeks. Back to patiently waiting again, but at least i feel that were somewhat drawing near or at least i hope so!! How about you? Have you heard anything as yet? BTW that place is crazy busy. My hubby got there 2 hrs before it opened and there was already a huge line of people - its like they camp or something. LOL

Hi all,
I'm not in the process yet but planning to. I cant believe its 14 months to process an app at the Trini office. Is that correct? Its disheartening.

E-CAS was giving problems yesterday but it was working in the night. I was wondering if anyone knows how the process works for Guyana. Does the passport request go to POS, or Guyana?

Happy Tuesday everyone! Well we are now into our second week after handing in the passport at POS. Does anyone know roughly how long it takes to hear back? I know they say 2-4 weeks, but i'm really hoping that we hear something this week. I'm getting really restless and just want my hubby with me now For anyone that lives in the Toronto area, i think i'm starting to get webbed feet!!!! Rain rain go away don't come back another day!!! LOL The forum is pretty quiet, i sure hope some good news comes out for everyone real soon.......
