Hi everyone!
My girlfriend just arrived yesterday in Canada for the first time on a TRV. I am still in Panama, and will follow her tomorrow (they screwed up my flight for today), although she doesn't know it... she is visiting a friend of hers, no reation to me or our relationship. I was chatting with her on MSN and asked her how it went with immigration. The following is a log of our subsequent conversation.
I want to mention that she had everything (with the exception of real estate) that CIC suggested as proof of ties to her home country. It was a solid application and was approved overnight, with processing time quoted at 21 days. Your mileage may vary, I don't know - but anyways, here's how her experience went:

•• cd •• says:
what did they ask you?

_____ says:
*when I came down from the airplane... there where 3 cops waiting

_____ says:
*one of them ask me where I came from .... (duh)

•• cd •• says:
*like, waiting outside the airplane?? or in customs

_____ says:
*then he ask me something else
*at the end of the hall from the aiplane to the airport

•• cd ••™ says:
*oh ok yeah

_____ says:
*not in customs

•• cd ••™ says:
*that means they're looking for someone in particular {there was a recent BIG drug bust in Panama, they're looking for a suspect still

_____ says:
*so he send me to a second officer his first question was ... where do u work
*then why are u here
*I said I came for vacation
*to meet a friend
*he asked me where I was going in canada

_____ says:
*and if I was going to the united states
*(it was an airplane from mexico.. and I looked gross so maybe that is why they ask me)
*they probably are checking for people that wants to go to usa
*then he ask me where did I came from
*and what I was going to do here
*so I told him that i was visiting a friend
*he asked if my friend was panamanian or canadian
*and he probably ask me something else again... and he let me go
*then I choose a woman officer on the customs
*she ask me almost the same questions ... but a lady from mex that didnt speak english interrupt us and I try to help her so we got lost in the conversation
*so she asked me twice if I got food or plants or expensive gifts
*ooooo I just remember what the first officer asked me "How many suit cases are u bringing"
*so the second officer just let me go

_____ says:
*I got my suitcases and off i went
*that is why I didnt want to bring too much *censored word*

•• cd ••™ says:
*so they never asked to see your documents, they never looked through your things, and really, you never had any problems at all.. right?

_____ says:
*nope
*they looked at my visa

•• cd ••™ says:
*yeah, thay have to do that

_____ says:
*and asked me how long was I staying I said 30 days the girl seem surprise but with the lady talking she forgot I think
*but other than tons of questions .. no problem
•• cd ••™ says:
*cool!
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=

I hope that some of you might find this helpful in your situations - good luck to everyone!
