Just a couple of notes..
1. Immigration officials are human. They deal with thousands of applications and probably look more favorably on the ones that don't give them problems. The CIC website states clearly that you should not contact them unnecessarily for updates. So it's possible you upset someone early on with your faxes and phone calls.
2. Application processing is a 'hurry-up-and-wait' situation. Most of what you see is infrequent requests for documents, infrequent communication, etc. What the immigration officer sees is a pile of applications which they try to go through as efficiently as possible, separated by long waits for applicants to provide the documents that are requested. When those documents arrive, they are put in queue along with the rest of the immigration officer's work - making it seems like they're not being processed. But actually, you're just waiting your turn.
So your long wait is probably a result of several factors. It may not be your fault that you sent the wrong police certificate or that the medicals expired. But it's also not CIC's fault. They have to work within guidelines, too.
In the end, you'll be better off if you relax.
I understand that they are human. But my officer gave me her Fax and Work# and ASKED me to contact her once I had all the documents. She said they were going to give me an answer once the documents were submitted. She and I talked several times on the phone. so any calls or faxes she received from me were of her request, nothing more than that. I have been going through this process now for 5 years......5 years waiting for this and she told me I'd have my answer once the documents were in, not in a little while she said they were "ready to give me an answer" and thats a direct quote. and theres the issue of my son's medical this will be my 3RD time going to this clinic to get "missing info" nothing about mine, mine was fine but 3x for my son? mind you these Dr's or at least the one my son saw keeps a immigration guideline in his office for what required for certain age groups. But i have to keep going back to this doctor and he keeps charging for every time i come back for "missing info".
I was on a spousal sponsorship, but I fled my home due to domestic violence, Now i am a single mom, one child a Canadian citizen(4years of age court ordered to only reside in Calgary hence Humanitarian and Compassionate grounds) the other (13 and a American) I have a work visa, I'm working mon-fri 7am-3:30pm as a cabinetmaker's apprentice I work hard for my kids, its scarey to this i might be ripped away from my daughter due to circumstaces beyond my control. If i can't find a way to contact immigration and say "Hello we got a situation here." where do i go? doesn't anyone have a direction to point me in? or maybe a "Don't worry in your cirumstance they will probably do what they can to make sure your family stays together. They wouldn't just rip you away like that if you are working with them to get the documents they are asking for. " really I just need some reassurence.
