Hi there,

I have applied for a work permit and believe it should be granted soon. However, I applied for a Police Clearance in my country, South Africa, and have a case of negligent driving on my record. Does anyone know if this charge shall be a problem when I go to the Visa office? I believe that if you are turned down once, you cannot easily apply and be accepted again. Any information shall be appreciated.

Check out this link:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/faq-inadmissibility.asp

At the bottom, it talks about how you can fill out a form and submit it to the visa officer to determine whether you would be considered inadmissable.  If so, but it's been at least 5 years since your crime/sentence, you can apply for rehabilitation.
