hi friends, much of my initial excitement of receiving aor has died down. i have almost all the documents required, but in this country for obtaining police clearance you need a letter from your employer and my company does not issue this letter. they wont hear of it as they feel canada immigration means i'll be leaving. i tried talking with the police guys but they say without employer letter they wont issue any certificate. My question is: WHAT should i do? how will i ever get this certificate? can i send the application without it? its unfair that law abiding people like us should go through this. can anyone please suggest something?

Please don't expect me to answer if your post title has urgent in it and it is not really urgent. Urgent is 911 or you have a definite deadline tomorrow, not that you would like to send in the application soon

i am in oman. its a gulf country. cannot say inheritance, as i already have told its for immigration while in asking for the letter but they refused to give it. it may come to having to quit if i pressurise too much. i dont want to lose my job.(have a family to support)
has anyone sent documents without the police clearance certificates, cant the chc-london themselves take it from the authorities down here? does anyone know about this?

Roy dada,

What u r saying beats me. Here u don't need sponsor's letter to get a PCC. All u have to do is 'attach' the CHC letter that u received. The Police force in this region is quite smart, very knowledgeable & very cooperative too.

In fact, there is a special clause (with Oman Police) for applying a PCC for "Canada Immigration". this is exactly what the typing shop will type in your form. Go to a typing shop and type the form in Arabic. Don't try to fill-in 'by hand'.

I'm from Dubai, have business interests in Oman, thus am a frequent visitor to your country. I know the regulations, it is the same as in Dubai. Yes, for other things u'll need the sponsor's letter.

Hope that helps.

thanks for your help qorax! but oman is the only country in gcc that requires a sponsor letter for pcc (for non nationals). all other gcc countries require only copy of resident card. but here you need a noc from your company along with the rest of the documents. i have talked it out here...

What Roy says is the same as on the CIC website:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLish/information/security/police-cert/mid-east/oman.asp

" You will be required to submit the following documents at the time of application:

    * a letter from your Omani sponsor (non-citizens only);
    * a completed application form;
    * a copy of your passport;
    * two photographs (4x4 cm) with a blue background; and
    * applicable fees."

So, in the event that you cannot get a letter from your Omani sponsor to obtain the PCC, you must write a letter to CIC submit with the application.  In the letter, state all the pertinent details (dates when moved there/lived there, your address(es), your employer/sponsor), and explain why you cannot get the PCC (sponsor refuses to give you the letter).  Describe all your efforts to obtain this, and the outcome of your efforts.  This is what the CIC advised me when I called and asked what I should do if I could not get one from Cambodia (I haven't submitted yet, tho, so I don't know how they will respond).

I would also suggest including a statement whether you have had any arrests and/or convictions, and attach a copy of your residence permits/visas to prove you are there legally.  If you have some kind of contract with your sponsor, include a copy of that also.

And hope for the best!  Remember they also do their own security and background investigations, it doesn't end with the PCCs...

I concur with Jes_on's comments. An explanatory letter detailing all pertinent issues must be submitted along with other documents.

Hi Roy,

I live in Dubai and I did not present a letter from my employer to Dubai Police but I got Police Clearance Letter. In your case I suggest you to prepare an Affidavit where you can mention about this situation. You can also mention about all those documents which you are not able to provide to Canadian Immigration Office and mention all in one Affidavit. This document should be attested by your counsulate in Oman. I attested my Affidavit from the counulate of my country. In my case they attested my signature and not the contents which is more than enough.
