Hey salaam,

The PCC should not be older than 3 months at the time you apply. If you are ready to submit your application now, I would suggest that you submit this PCC you have with you now. Also apply for a new one, and inform them that a new PCC is on its way. Include any receipts as proof that you have applied for a new PCC.

Also, the processing time is 24 months for CHC-Islamabad and by the time they open your file in 10 months time, the PCCs would have expired anyways and they request new ones.

(Im assuming you are being sponsored by your wife & hence it's a family class application. Or is it an FSW application?)

Hope this helps Smiley

Hi friend,

Yes Shamissa is correct. You should get a new one now.

Police certificates are generally considered to be valid for one year from the date of issue. But it should have obtained within 3 months while submitting the application to CIO. In case, while your PR application is under processing at the visa office and if the VO find the PCC is not valid, they will ask you to submit another one.

Please also note that Page 18 of London Office guide says that application can be submitted to CIO without PCC in exceptional cases, when there is delay for obtaining PCC. The PCC should be ready to send to the VO when the PR application starts processing.

But you have to be sure about getting PCC that time and could be risky.

the PC from UK shows his record while he was in that country. he is not in UK right now, and if he never entered UK after he left then whats the point of getting a new one? it will show the same information. well he will need a new one from the country he is living right now.

I hadn't lived in the US for more than 10 years since I was there, but I still had to get an FBI report.  It doesn't matter how long ago you left, or if you're not there anymore.  You MUST submit a valid PCC for every country lived in since 18 years of age with your application, and it is NOT valid if it is more than 3 months' old when your application is received at CPC-M.  He needs to send the one he has now, and advise them he is applying for a new one which will be current.

u r right my friend u had to submit a report. definately u have to submit a new one because 10 yrs old FBI report is not valid anymore... but hey, this UK PC is only 4 months old(and its still valid) and logically it wont be a huge issue if he submits. it shows his information during his stay in UK. the 3 months rule will apply for his current country of residence. i just used my logic... i might be wrong.. so no offense please.

No, my FBI report was not 10 years old.  You fail to understand what I am saying.  I am saying, I had not been to the US in 10 years, but I still had to submit a report from there, because CIC requires you to submit a VALID PCC from every country lived in since you were 18.  In order to be VALID, the PCC must not have been issued more than 3 months before your application is received at CPC-M.  So, NO, it doesn't matter that it is only 4 months old, what matters is what CIC says, and that is: It must be no more than 3 months old when it is submitted.

It doesn't matter if he hasn't returned to the UK recently, it doesn't matter if he just left, none of that matters.  You are not allowed to substitute your personal opinion for CIC's requirements.  You do as they ask, and submit a PCC which is not more than 3 months old when you submit your application.  Simple.

Hi dear, if CHC failed to understand your logic, his file will be straight way REJECTED..!!

We have to strictly follow the instructions of CHC, else we are taking the RISK of loosing the Canadian immigration.

My husband's police report was issued 4 months before my application was received at CIC mississauga. I somehow got approved as a sponsor. I asked this question before too in this forum. I am worried VO will ask for a new one, so we thought we should actually start applying for it. But I was told that in some VO, these PCC are considered valid for 6 months?? I am totally confused now!!

Exactly.  So, he can save himself the time and apply for the new one NOW.

You cannot impose your "logic" on CIC, because you don't know if they will accept the 4 month old certificate.  According to CIC's stated policy, it is not valid if it is more than 3 months old when they get your application, so if they reject his application, he cannot argue with them about it, can he?  So, rather than waste time hoping that they allow his application although he is submitting an invalid PCC, he can apply for a new one and advise them that he is doing so.

Again, your opinion and your "logic" are not binding on CIC.  CIC's rules bind CIC.  Don't assume you know what they will and will not accept, just do things as they say you should.  Maybe that's not logical to you, but it is to me.  *shrugs*

If you need to get a new one, New Delhi will ask you to do so.  The fact that CPC-M accepted your application means that they are holding it valid for a year, that is the usual validity for PCCs.

As per the CIC website:

Who needs a police certificate?

In general, you and everyone in your family who is 18 years of age or over need to obtain a police certificate. You must obtain a police certificate from each country or territory where you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

The certificate must have been issued no more than three months before you submit your application.
