Hey guys, I had a question regarding police clearance certificate (PCC) as I am in the process of gathering my docs.

Say you lived in city X for 4 years and now living in city Y for the last 4 years IN THE SAME COUNTRY, would you need PCCs from both city X and Y? Or just "Y" would do?

Thanks!

Which country is this for?

BTW - PCC is country wise not per city wise..

Yea only if you lived in the U.S. than you need from each state you lived in. Otherwise you are fine, you just need from the country, go to your local police station and ask them.

Hi Dear,

Looks like you haven't read the full instruction guide. Smiley
No Problem - well, you do not need to send the PCC initially with your application. If your application is accepted & put into processing, your Visa Offfice will ask you to submit the PCC on a later date. So, the good idea would be, once you get your file# & before VO asks for PCC, get your PCC ready (from all applicable country).

Hey thanks for all your help guys!

I am applying from India so going by the looks of it, seems a PCC from just my present city would serve me alright.

I have already applied for it, hope I get it soon.

Thanks again!

Yea only if you lived in the U.S. than you need from each state you lived in. Otherwise you are fine, you just need from the country, go to your local police station and ask them.

Read the instructions on the CIC website.  None of us here know the requirements for each and every country.

If you lived in Mexico, for example, CIC requires both Federal and State police clearances.  You have to check the requirements for each specific country.

On the other hand, you do NOT need a state PCC from the US; you only need it if it is requested by CIC.

Please don't expect me to answer if your post title has urgent in it and it is not really urgent. Urgent is 911 or you have a definite deadline tomorrow, not that you would like to send in the application soon

Apparently it takes 2 weeks from about the CC charge date.
