Hello,
I am considering to apply for the Canadian PR. While going thru forum and CIC website, I found out that I need to submit the PCC along with my application. The PCC needs to be sent for all the countries I have lived in for more than 6 months consecutively.
I was a student in Vancouver, Canada from sep 2005 to dec 2006 for my MBA. Then I moved to USA on H1B visa from Jan 2007 till May 2009. After May 2009 I have been living in India.
Here is my question: Since I lived in 3 countries (Canada, USA and India) do I have to submit PCC's for all 3 countries? If yes, do i have to submit all of them at once? Please guide me here.
Thanks

No, it says that "it's highly recommended to submit your PCCs with your application". In case you don't then your VO will ask for them when your application will be processed by them on a later stage. Just try to make a very good estimation of the time needed to obtain all 3 PCCs, so when the VO asks for them you will be prepared. Yes, if you decide to send them along with your application then you will have to submit PCCs from all 3 countries.

Hi, I have submitted PCCs from 5 countries. It's not always a good idea to submit these with your application as they have a validity period and if, for some reason, your application is delayed, you will have to go through the whole procedure again. I second what Thalia said, make a good estimation when they're required. A good point to begin the procedure would be when you get your AOR from your local VO. I read somewhere on this thread that PCCs from the US (I believe from the FBI) take awhile to get. Good luck with your application. Cheers, Rahul.

You are welcome vishal. Well, according to the official site, you send only if the VO asks you for one from Canada. I guess it's very easy for them to run a security check concerning your Canada-background. So from what I understand, you send PCCs from US and India, and if later New Delhi VO ( I assume this is the VO you use) asks for a Canadian one then you apply for it.
"Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence? Only in certain cases. The Canadian visa office will tell you if you need a Canadian criminal record check while your application is being processed."
And I totally agree with Odin. I also didn't submit mine 'cause I require from 3 countries and don't want to pay for all and after a few months the VO to ask for new ones. I prefer to pay once and for good when really needed. Just be careful of the US one as I see some people getting some delays from there.
If any senior thinks it's otherwise, please comment.

Hi, Logical as your statement is, there is a validity period of a maximum of a year for your police clearance. So, you will have to get new ones, when required. Case in point: I lived in Switzerland for three years and left in 1996. Haven't been back since. Still, they've asked for a new PCC as opposed to the one I had earlier. Cheers, Rahul.

Dear Vishal, I think otherwise, if by anychance you can at least provide one police clearance, lets say PCC from India since you're already there, i think it would be better that way. Although CIC is not saying that it is required, they are also telling that you are "strongly encouraged" to send one. Furthermore your apllication will be processed based on the compleness of your documents, hence it would be wiser if you can provide to avoid BFD and delays...and then let the other PCC from USA and CAnada be sent once they request it from you...but again make sure that u hve them already by the time they require your PCCs. rey Hello,

I have a different opinion. Either you submit all from the beginning, either all later. CIO can't state it as "incomplete" cause of PCCs, or speed up your process, since it all lays down to your VO. If you were to get delayed over PCCs then it makes no difference if it's 'cause of one's country PCC or three countries. In both cases you get another BFD. And ND VO usually asks for PCCs along with MR so not much delay there. Well, you heard all our opinions. What you will decide to do is up to you. There is no wrong or right here, so don't worry. Some applicants sent PCCs from the beginning and had no problem with their VO, some others were requested to re-submit fresh ones and some chose to send them later along with the additional documents that VO asks for. Good luck with your app....

In this one aspect, we can disregard the recommendation of submitting PCCs with the original app. Best to do it once, when required. Cheers, Rahul.
