Police Certificate Dilemma

Hi All,

I have been facing this problem lately in regard to my police clearance which I realized now. I have lived in Singapore, US and my native country for more than 6 months since reaching the age of 18 and When I filed my application, the police certs were a couple weeks beyond 3 months range.

At the time of application, Singapore doesn't want to issue the Police certificate to non-citizen unless immigration appeal them to issue to me. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/singapore.asp
Also my FBI clearance was 3 months and 2 weeks old and my native country's police clearance was 4 months old when I filed for my inland application in March 2011.

Does it make a difference as I left my native country like 8 years ago  and have not lived there more than 6 months since them. Also I have not gone back to singapore since 2007 and also I have left US since 2010 and I have been living in Canada since then. I requested FBI clearance a week before leaving US and have not gone back to US since then.

Or Should i request FBI clearance and Police certificate now and send them to CIC to attach with my application to cover up the 3 months requirement or Should I wait to hear from them?

Dont know what to do with singapore COC clearance as I have to wait for appeal letter from CIC? Should I approach CIC and ask them to send me the letter own my own or wait to hear from them?

Any advice?

Redo them. The bottom line is the certs for all three coutries - the U.S., Singapore, and whatever your "native country" is (Pakistan?) expired by the time Vegreville received them and you did live in all three countries for more than 6 months (technically, this needs to be consecutive, but who wants to split hairs when you're dealing with inconsistent CIC?) since the age of 18, by your own account below, and if the inland rules are anything like the outland ones, this information defintely means that 1) those certs ain't no good no more, and 2) you require them in the first place. Don't forget the RCMP check. That's another thing you need to do being an inlander. Don't know why Singapore has to be difficult, but I would at least TRY to get something in writing out of CPC-V by explaining the situation to them. If not, they'll obviously send their request when they're good and ready. Inland takes a really long time, and I guess in a way, it doesn't save that much time if you wait for them to request these things versus being proactive about it......but on the other hand, anything and everything you can do to shorten your processing time is a good idea, even for inland.

1.  The OP requires a letter from CIC after submitting the application before s/he can get the Singapore PCC Vegreville will send the letter.
2.  You don't require an RCMP criminal records check unless CIC asks.

I understand the first point, and I suggested that if OP can get such a letter himself, on his own initiative, that would help the process. And for the second point, my understanding was that a majority if not all inland applicants were at some point being asked to provide RCMP prints, even though it was not on the inland checklist, so again, in the interest of saving time, I suggested he take care of it in advance.

I should get them renewed.

Should I go ahead and request CIC to hand me over a letter in order to request PCC from Singapore OR should I wait till I get to hear from them. Infact, I have to submit PCC for singapore in any case. It looks required.

As per your 1st statement, My application has been submitted and in process for 7 months.

Because they are processing applications received 23/11/2010 so they haven't got to yours yet.

1. If COC is Change of Conditions, I have no idea how that pertains not getting a national police certificate.

2. As an outlander who doesn't spend too much time on the inland thread, I know that for outlanders who choose to "wait out" the process in Canada, yes, CIC will do a "name check" on all applicants residing in Canada and will only require a fingerprint clearance if the name check produces a "hit". From my (brief) time looking at people's posts on the Inland thread, it seemed like more than 10% of them were being asked for prints, but maybe that was just me....
