If an applicant gets call for passport from VO or once it gets PR, in that case, can applicant's sibling claim points for "Relative in Canada"? or Is it mandatory for person who has got PR to be physically in Canada so that sibling can claim the points for Relative?
Please share your view.
Thank.

The person should be in Canada then only the sibling can claim those 5 points.

I did not request for information for sponsoring the sibling . And I believe PR holder can sponsor minor sibling & if PR holder is already settled in Canada. My sibling is willing to apply his own, I was trying to check if my sibling can claim for "Relative in Canada" once I get the PR or once I land & get settled in Canada and shibuya has suggested that once I get settled in Canada then only my sibling can claim points for relative.

As it says "Relative in Canada", if relative is not settled in Canada, then one can not claim those points. Once I settled in Canada as PR or have citizenship, then my sibling can claim those points but not otherwise.

The proof of relative has 3 stages:
1. Ascertain that the "claimed" relative has a "relationship" with u. 2. Check that the relative is "inside" Canada, while applying & continue to do so. 3. Ensure that the relative is "financially strong".
For each of the above 3 we need to submit proofs.

This is incorrect. Anyone lawfully admitted to Canada for Permanent Residence can sponsor a relative to come to Canada as a Permanent Residnet. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/index.asp"If you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you can sponsor your spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, dependent child (including adopted child) or other eligible relative (such as a parent or grandparent) to become a permanent resident."

gte439u, You are incorrect dear. Having a relative in Canada does not assure that u will easily get those 5 points. One member on this forum had his uncle in Canada who was jobless and taking social assistance. He did not get those bonus points and his file was closed. As soon as u send across ur relative details like passport copy, citizenship card the immigration official can trace all the data of ur relative. Hope this helps u with ur misinformation.

Please read the blue box in my post. You are correct in what you say regarding points for a relative, but I was not responding to that proposition regarding the points awarded for a relative in Canada. I was responding to the enquiry as to whether or not a Permanent Resident could sponsor a relative to become a Permanent Resident in Canada. Sponsoring a relative to come to Canada and getting points for having a relative in Canada are two very different questions.

Any authentic source for the above stages?

Any authentic source for the above stages?
WHO ARE THE ACCEPTABLE RELATIVES? Proof of relationship showing u, or your accompanying spouse/common-law partner has a close relative who lives in Canada and is a Canadian Citizen or PR. This close relative can be: • parent, grandparent, • child, grandchild, • brother, sister, • aunt, uncle, or • niece, nephew. HOW TO PROVE THE CANADIAN RELATIVE:But, now u must show the 'proof of relative' if u want to survive on this stage. This 'Proof' is required in Three (3) Steps. Here's how u go about it: 1. BASIC EVIDENCE OF RELATIONSHIP: Proof of relationship to your close relative in Canada can be evident by docs, such as A)birth, B)marriage or C)adoption certificates. For eg, to prove that your relative in Canada is your paternal aunt, it would be necessary to submit copies of birth certificates for her and for your father showing they have at least one common parent. 2. WHAT DOCUMENTS NEEDED AS PROOF? • If s/he is a PR: provide a copy of Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or COPR or PR Card. • If s/he is a Citizen: provide Citizenship proof, such as a copy of Canadian passport or Citizenship card. 3. HOW TO PROVE RELATIVE IS 'CURRENTLY INSIDE' CANADA? Provide evidence to show that your relative is currently residing inside Canada. This may include copies of: • lease agreements, • a current Notice of Assessment from Revenue Canada, • an employer's letter confirming employment, • monthly bills etc. Note: 1. The evidence should show the relative's "name" and "full address" in Canada. 2. The CIC would perform due diligence on the financial ability of the person.Source: Page A-3: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/E37048.pdf

The problem is here, caused by the Immigration officer In CHC, Pure harassment . The corresponding office never asked for it when the applicant applied. What to do in this situation?
"Proof that your relative is currently physically residing in Canada and has been for the past 6 months. Please not that Canadian passports, citizenship cards or permanent residence cards are not acceptable evidence of residence in Canada. (E.g. Current bank account statements and tax return form)"
