In August I will have been in my current job for 2 years and would like to apply for CEC as soon as possible after that. Unfortunately I was laid off for a period of 4 months last year. I was then re-hired by the same firm and took up my former position. Whilst this means that I have technically not held my position for the full 24 months, will I have to wait another 4 months before I can start my application?

Yes, I would say so but call CIC and ask.  They may consider you full time employed if you reach 3900 hours (1950 hours is full time employment for one year).

Thank you for your response Leon. I'll try calculating my hours to date and see if I have accumulated enough.
