my eCas:
I am a Quebec selected skilled worker, PhD student.
Here is my eCas:
In Process:
We received your application for permanent residence on December 16, 2010.
We started processing your application on February 21, 2012.
Medical results have been received.

No PPR yet (almost 17 months).

I can think of many reasons that my application is delayed:
1. My occupation is not as much in demand as other occupations.
2. My background checks are not finished yet.
3. This year's quota is finished. the new quota opens on June 26 or so I heard.
4. All officers are busy and I need to wait till one is assigned to me.

please let me know what you think.
thanks

I used to email Cath and said I really need the PR status to arrange my life in Canada...blah blah blah.... In the reply, she said she will forward my info to the processing team responsible to my case. After half month I get the PPR. You can try to contact her gently again and tell her more. Good luck.

Ecas shows In Process with the following notes:

Application received in January 2011
Started processing on Aug 2011
Medical results have been received in November

What is initial assessment all about? I don't think I received such an email.

They start finalizing your application once the initial assessment is complete.

Dear Applicant:
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.
We have now completed the initial assessment of your application, and expect to finalize your application without a personal interview. We reserve the right to call you to an interview should it become necessary at some future stage in processing.

I sent a couple of emails trying to figure out what folks at Buffalo are doing on my application
and all I received was stupid automated emails. It's really frustrating. A friend of mine was lucky
and his file was transferred to Loss Angles and it took his application 1.5 months to be finalized.
I don't know what is going on in Buffalo but I am very concerned about the way they are handling
my application.
btw, are you a Quebec selected worker?

I can relate to your frustration.I also emailed our visa office a couple of times but only get automatic reply.  The fact that applicants who applied after us got their visa already added to my worries. Also some applicants got their MR and PPR at the same time.

I'm an NB provincial nominee.

That's my plan too if nothing comes up after 17 months since processing time on our VO is 17 months.
