friends, i need your advice.. I have a problem
The application packet to be sent to Sydney has the Supplementary Your Travels From...
the thing is my relative (whose in canada and who filled up our forms) did not place our travels in the Background Declaration Question 11 Personal History (which we submitted in manitoba for the MPNP).
Now should I declare in the Supplementary Your Travels from that I've been outside the country before?
My relative is insisting that i not fill it up or simply check did not travel... but im scared that it will be tantamount to omission thus cause for denial...
should I place my travels anyway?
how long did you travel to Canada? How many times you travel there? Which country you are in now? what kind of visas you used? I may be wrong, but I think you should report any travel you had in the past 10 years or since your 18 years old per IMM5562 instruction. Any thoughts from other folks?

5 months in the US (state hopping) so dont have permanent residence (besides i dont think it qualifies as a residency because its less than 6 months). and two weeks in thailand last year...
Yes it won't be considered as temporary resident and u would not have to give your police certificate .. But 5 months .. You have to mention on personal history .. Stating u were there on holiday or unemployed or whatever .. And on the travel form. .. And for ur visit to Thailand u just need to mention it on the travel form and not personal history .. Cheers

Again depends on ur situation .. I had travelled overseas for 10 days while I was working in India .. But I did not mention that in personal history as I was away only for 10 days .. But I mentioned the duration in travel form and number of days and purpose. .. So if you travelled for more than a month you should mention it both on personal history and travel forms.. But if it's less than a month .. You need to mention it on ur travel form.. Stating the number of days travelled and also purpose.. Is there any reason why you have not mentioned your travel ??

i didnt go to canada i went to the US, I went there ones for 5 months about 6 years ago. I used a tourist visa... Im back in my home country..

Ok, it is my turn to ask questions. 1) I have original college transcripts from China and US. I do not need to keep these original because I can order more if I want to. Now, is it a good, or better, or worse idea to send these original transcripts issued from the colleges to CIO with my application package? As we know, CIO only needs copies. It will hurt if I send original? Any thoughts? 2)Same for my employer reference. I can obtain it whenever I want. I just got an original letter from my boss. Is it good idea to send this original to CIO? I think it is okay but just want to get assurance from your guys. Thanks.

As per the new document checklist, they only require copies of transcripts unlike before, unless its in a different language, then a notarized copy of the translation is required with the original ones.. thats what I think, please check the cic website to confirm on that again.. It wont hurt sending the originals, but its better to do as what they requested for ..

again,.. only the copy is required at this stage when you submit the documents to CIO, and when they transfer your documents to the concerned visa office and if they feel that you need to submit originals for further verificaiton, only then you need to submit the originals ..

Note: An affidavit is a document on which the translator has sworn, in the presence of a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the translator is living, that the contents of their translation are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original document. Translators who are certified members in good standing of one of the provincial or territorial organizations of translators and interpreters of Canada do not need to supply an affidavit.
Important information. Translations by family members are not acceptable.
Certified true copies
To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:
“I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”, the name of the original document, the date of the certification, his or her name, his or her official position or title, and his or her signature. Who can certify copies?
Persons authorized to certify copies include the following:
In Canada:
a commissioner of oaths a notary public a justice of the peace Outside Canada:
a judge a magistrate a notary public an officer of a court of justice a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is livingso i think you have to have it notarized as well as the other copies

It is almost impossible to ask the school officer to swear before another administer to testify the true translation for me. Because this translation is from the school itself and stamped and signed off, CIO should not have problem with it. The point is that the translation is not done by an independent or commercial translator or translation service company, it is done by the college itself. How your guys handle the transcripts translation issue if your education is not in English or French? Did you get your transcript in your native language and go to the translator and get translated with a sworn letter/testimony before administer? Did your school provide English version and you still need it to be RE-translated by a translator who swore that the his translation is true? pls share your experience. Thanks.

I also got my bachelor and master in China. My suggestion is if immigration office ask for verified copy version, just do it. Or else, you may be asked to do it later. You just need to take the original one to the notorized office (公证处) in your city and they know how to do that.

in summary of the instructions above. bring your transcripts to a notary public. they'll certify it for you
