My husband landed a few weeks back. We want to go on vacation over xmas, but he still hasn't rec'd his PR card. He has a passport from a visa-exempt country. Can he re-enter Canada with this passport and no PR card? Will this create problems? I'm just trying to see if this is possible, otherwise I wouldn't risk it.

I am pretty much sure that you can't leave the country until you have your PR card back, even if it is from a visa-exempt country
can anyone else confirm that?

Yes, you can leave and enter on your landing documents.  If you are not visa exempt, you can also leave but need a PR travel document to return.

I'm absolutely positive this is incorrect.

do you not technically leave Canada when you land from an inland application? and do not have a pr card?

Regardless of whether you are inland or outland - it takes several week (often a couple of months) to receive the PR card after you land. Also, for both inland and outland - you can "land" by leaving the country and re-entering. Or you can chose to land through a visa office in Canada (without leaving the country) by booking a landing appointment.

Definitely wrong. If you are visa exempt you can re-enter with your landing documents, if you haven't received your PR card yet.
